Dear network scholars,
We hope this email finds you well. As members of the Social Network Society (SNS) Organizing Committee, we (Joe Labianca and Hongzhi Chen) are reaching out to share an initiative aimed at enhancing the experience of network scholars attending the 2025 Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting in Copenhagen. This initiative focuses on coordinating Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) related to organizational social networks (both research and teaching), and we would greatly appreciate your collaboration.
Purpose of Our Initiative:
1. Centralized Information Sharing: We plan to compile and share a comprehensive list of network-related PDWs on the SNS @ AOM Connect page. This will help scholars stay informed about the latest developments and announcements within the community.
2. Improved Scheduling and Coordination: By gathering this information, we aim to assist PDW program chairs across divisions and interest groups in minimizing unintended topic overlaps and scheduling conflicts, optimizing time and venue arrangements, and ensuring a seamless conference experience for PDW participants.
3. Support for PDW Organizers: We will also support PDW organizers in coordinating with their sponsoring divisions' PDW chairs to address scheduling issues and secure appropriate venues for their workshops.
How You Can Help:
To achieve these goals, we need your help in sharing information about the network-related PDWs you are planning for the 2025 AOM conference. Specifically, we are looking for the following details:
- Themes and brief descriptions of the PDWs.
- Organizers and panelists involved.
- Intended sponsor divisions or interest groups.
- Preferred scheduling and length (day/time slots) and venue requirements (room size and setup).
Please share these details through this Qualtrics link here or email them directly to Hongzhi Chen at hzchen@fudan.edu.cn by Dec. 31st, 2024.
Next Steps:
1. Outreach to Past and Current Organizers:
We will contact individuals who have previously organized network PDWs at the AOM annual meetings to learn about their plans for 2025.
2. Information Compilation and Sharing:
The collected information will be shared with PDW organizers to encourage collaboration and minimize scheduling conflicts or significant topic overlaps.
3. Coordination with Division Chairs:
We will work with division/interest group PDW program chairs to address scheduling and venue-related requests, enhancing the overall coordination of network-related PDWs.
We kindly ask you to share any relevant plans or ideas for network-related PDWs by Dec. 31st, 2024 via the Qualtrics link or by emailing Hongzhi Chen at hzchen@fudan.edu.cn. Your input will be crucial in ensuring a well-coordinated and impactful presence for network scholars at the conference.
Please feel free to reach out to us directly with any questions or suggestions. We are excited to collaborate with you to create a dynamic and engaging experience for the network scholarly community in Copenhagen.
P.S. If you are organizing symposiums on network topics, please feel free to share this information on the SNS @ AOM Connect site. Here's a link on how you can join and subscribe to our SNS community.
Warm regards,
