Along with Guest Editors Dong Liu, Albert Cannella, Jr., Amy Hillman, Scott Seibert, and Michael Tushman, I am happy to announce the publication of our "This is an Eventful Era" special issue in the Journal of Management (https://journals.sagepub.com/toc/joma/51/3).
In addition to our introductory article, the special issue contains an exceptional set of articles that examine many different discrete events such as everyday change events, crises, organizational downsizing, mergers, corporate scandals, technology implementations, product launches, trade wars, and protests. Using diverse methodologies and analytic techniques, these papers draw from a wide range of research domains, including human resource management, organizational behavior, organizational theory, and strategic management. Their findings demonstrate the interesting ways discrete events disrupt routines, prompt adaptation, and impact individual and collective behaviors across various levels within organizations, pointing to the transformative role of discrete events in fostering changes at different organizational levels. We hope you enjoy these articles and that they inspire you to conduct your own event-oriented research. Below is the list of articles and direct links to each one. Apologies for cross-postings.
