Tenure-Track OB Faculty Position, Department of Management & Entrepreneurship
The University of Tennessee's Haslam College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track Organizational Behavior position in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the Department, as well as to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. The effective date of employment is August 1, 2021, or when filled. Compensation will be competitive for this position.
Qualifications
Required: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. from an accredited institution with a foundation and interest in Organizational Behavior or a closely-related discipline. The Ph.D. must be earned by August 1, 2021. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of quality scholarship and teaching effectiveness in Organizational Behavior.
Preferred:
Our preferred candidates will possess:
- An emerging or ongoing program of substantive research in premier refereed journals.
- A strong background in research methods.
- A desire to work with doctoral students.
- The ability to complement and extend our faculty's research interests and the direction of the Department.
- A record of demonstrated teaching success at an accredited institution.
- The ability to contribute to the diversity and intellectual climate of the Department and University.
Essential duties and responsibilities: Engage in research that results in premier publications. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Participate in professional and university service activities commensurate with faculty rank.
Haslam College of Business and Department Background
The Haslam College of Business is well-funded with a current endowment of $205 million dollars. The Haslam College of Business is AACSB accredited, with over 130 faculty serving approximately 5,500 undergraduate and graduate students. Classes are taught in the state-of-the-art James A. Haslam II Business Building.
The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship offers two undergraduate degrees, a master's degree in management and human resources, two university minors (entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship), and the Ph.D. degree in Strategy, Entrepreneurship, & Organizations. Tenured or tenure-track departmental faculty members include Melissa Cardon, Russell Crook, David Gras, Jessica Jones, Terry Leap, Alex Miller, Tim Munyon, Tim Pollock, Codou Samba, Anne Smith, and Dave Williams. Our faculty have published in top journals including AMJ, AMR, ASQ, JAP, JBV, JIBS, JOM, Org Science, PPsych, and SMJ.
The Knoxville Area
Knoxville is located in east Tennessee, with a metro area of more than 850,000. Knoxville enjoys a mild climate, a beautiful and walkable downtown, varied nightlife, active neighborhoods, eclectic shopping and restaurants, and a low cost of living. Knoxville is home to several large corporations and located within easy driving distance to Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Asheville, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nashville are readily accessible by car, and the Knoxville airport offers direct flights to 29 destinations.
