    SYMPOSIUM ABSTRACT

In this presenter symposium, we call for papers that cross disciplinary boundaries and that develop new perspectives and novel insights about women's careers in diverse organizational, professional, national or regional contexts. We are specifically interested in papers that draw on feminist and critical epistemologies and that go beyond the male/female binary to explore intersectionality based on race, class, sexual orientation, urban/rural residence, and other characteristics. We also welcome papers show casing women's career successes in different contexts and those  that reflect formal/informal career experiences, the future of work and technological advancements, as well as self-employment and entrepreneurship and whether those fields support or hinder women's career experiences and opportunities. We expect manuscripts to bring strong empirical contributions that develop and extend theory as well as more conceptual papers that integrate, critique, and expand existing theory, and/or that suggest social action and policy-making that contribute to enhancing women's career experiences and opportunities. We encourage the use of methods that are appropriate to both the research context and research questions and therefore welcome both qualitative and quantitative methods of investigation and analysis. We also welcome papers that combine different empirical methods and which explore organizational and macro levels of analysis and that compare and contrast the experiences of women and men in different career contexts. This call will be shortly followed by a call for submissions for a special issue of Career Development International on the same topic (impact factor 2.32).

We look forward to your contribution to our symposium and potentially to our Special Issue

    Regards,

    Eleni, Bert, Julia, and Fida
