We invite you to join our professional development workshop (PDW) titled "Research Grounded in African Experiences: The Process and Practice of Publishing" at the 2025 Annual Meeting and gain insights into publishing rigorous and impactful research grounded in African experiences. It will consist of interactive sessions that engage scholars and editors across AOM who are (or may be) interested in Africa-based research.

    Workshop Structure

Part 1 will offer insights into publishing rigorous and impactful Africa-based Management and Organization research. It consists of journal editors Cindy Devers (Journal of Management), Marc Gruber (Academy of Management Journal), Lamar Pierce (Organization Science) and Brian Silverman (Strategic Management Journal). The editors will discuss how journals' publication processes and editorial practices engage with research drawing on African experiences, as well as from a variety of content areas and methodologies.

Part 2 will feature Robert Nason, the author of a recent AMR article. Nason will briefly walk us through his journey from submission to acceptance. Then, Sharon Alvarez, the action editor, will share her perspectives on the review process, as well as reflect on how this paper is distinct or like others she knows based on her considerable editorial and publishing experience.
