In recent years, researchers across fields such as Strategy, Organizational Behavior, International Management, Human Resource Management, and Entrepreneurship have increasingly recognized that some factors are not just helpful-but absolutely necessary-to achieve desired outcomes. This PDW introduces participants to Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA), a rigorous and intuitive method for identifying such "must-have" conditions. NCA complements traditional regression-based methods by offering a different causal logic: necessity instead of sufficiency.
In this interactive session, participants will:
- Learn the core principles of NCA and how to apply them correctly
- Explore how NCA can be combined with Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)
- Work in small groups to apply NCA to their own research and receive feedback from experienced scholars
Whether you're looking to broaden your methodological toolkit, formulate sharper theoretical claims, or enhance the practical impact of your research, this PDW provides the tools and insights to do so.
