    BYU Organizational Behavior and Human Resources (OB/HR) Faculty Position

    Fall 2026

    Position Description

    The Department of Management of the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University anticipates a tenure-track position opening in the Organizational Behavior and Human Resources (OB/HR) Group starting in Fall semester 2026. We welcome applications from candidates with research and teaching interests in human resources (HR), organizational behavior (OB), and/or organization theory (OT). All approaches, perspectives, and methods are welcome.

    The position is open-rank (assistant, associate, or full). The successful candidate will be expected to (1) conduct research that leads to publications in top-tier journals; (2) be responsible for teaching a two-two (or equivalent) course load in HR, OB, and/or OT to undergraduate and/or graduate business students; and (3) participate in college and university service activities and student mentoring commensurate with experience and rank.

    The Department of Management consists of an OB/HR group with 13 full-time faculty members, a Strategy group with 9 full-time faculty members, and an Entrepreneurship group with 7 full-time faculty members. This position is in the OB/HR group. The department is highly collaborative and candidates can expect access to, and engagement with, the entire department.

    The Marriott School Strategic HR MBA emphasis was recently ranked #1 by The Princeton Review on their list of Best MBA Programs for Human Resources. The Marriott School MBA program and undergraduate business program consistently rank among the top 40 programs in the country according to major news and business publications. The Marriott School of Business enrolls more than 3,000 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students. Brigham Young University enrolls over 35,000 students who represent 107 countries and speak 127 different languages. More than 60% of BYU students speak a second language.

    Provo is one of Utah's largest cities with a metro population of more than 200,000. Provo is rated by numerous outlets as one of the best places to live in the U.S., including a recent ranking as the #1 "best-run city in America" by WalletHub. Provo is part of a vibrant startup community known as "Silicon Slopes" and the state of Utah consistently has one of the best state economies in the United States. Provo is located in the Wasatch Mountain range, which offers world-class opportunities for mountain and water sports, including snow- and water-skiing, hiking, climbing, biking, fishing, river rafting, and golfing. Top Utah ski destinations and 2002 Winter Olympic venues are less than one hour away (including the famed Sundance Resort which is less than 20 minutes from campus). Other Utah attractions include 5 national parks, 7 national monuments, and 43 state parks.

    Requirements

    Candidates must: (1) possess an earned doctorate or be ABD and on track to complete a doctorate by August 1, 2026; (2) have demonstrated competence and the potential to conduct high-quality research; and (3) demonstrate an interest and ability to teach HR, OB, and/or OT courses to undergraduate and graduate business students. Applicants for associate or full professor should have publication and teaching records consistent with desired rank.
