Dear colleagues,
We are delighted to announce the Call for Papers for the forthcoming special issue: "Human Resource Management in Cooperatives and Employee-Owned Firms" in Journal of Co-operative Organization and Management.
Illustrative topics include, but are not limited to, the following themes:
- The relationship between HRM strategies and practices in cooperatives and employee-owned firms and their outcomes at the individual, organizational, and societal levels.
- The dual role of owner-employees or member-employees and its impact on workplace attitudes and behaviors.
- Integrating HRM in cooperatives and employee-owned firms with sustainable HRM and, more recently, common good HRM to better understand how HRM is shaped by society and, in turn, influences societal outcomes.
- The role of formal and informal learning in developing competencies and shaping cooperative culture.
- HRM practices oriented toward promoting key cooperative and organizational values and challenges in implementing them.
- Employee participation and employee voice at both strategic and operational levels.
- Multi-stakeholder HRM, including negotiations, conflicts, and the dynamics of change.
- The internationalization of cooperatives and the replication of cooperative HRM strategies and practices in foreign subsidiaries.
- Wage and labor flexibility in cooperatives to face crises and their effects on employee attitudes and behaviors.
- The role of false cooperatives in the deterioration of working conditions.
- HRM strategies, practices and outcomes in the transformation process from investor-owned firms to cooperatives or employee-owned firms.
- HRM in new forms of cooperatives, particularly platform cooperatives operating in the gig economy.
