POSITION: PROFESSOR OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT
The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is seeking qualified candidates to renew its faculty complement and support high-quality development across all its areas of activity. UQAM is a world-renowned institution. Its research centers conduct cutting-edge research rooted in major social concerns, thereby contributing to its influence. The School of Management (ESG UQAM) is UQAM's largest faculty with 300 professors and more than 50 research units. ESG UQAM's Department of Organization and Human Resources (https://orh.esg.uqam.ca/) is comprised of 52 professors from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds, including human resources management, organizational behaviour, labour relations, industrial and organizational psychology, sociology of work, occupational health and safety, economics, organizational development, and social and collective business management. The work of its members in the field of occupational health is internationally recognized within the scientific community and among social actors. In addition, UQAM advances a unique vision of health that is reflected in the development of a new Faculty of Health Sciences, whose structure includes occupational health and safety.
The management of occupational health and safety is a major human, social, and economic issue within a legal, political, organizational, and technological context that is constantly transforming. Organizations therefore face challenges to maintain their competitiveness while ensuring a healthy and safe work environment for their personnel. The department is seeking an occupational health and safety professor who will:
JOB DESCRIPTION
· Teach and supervise occupational health and safety in current and future programs at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels
· Supervise students at all three academic levels (internships, intervention projects, master's and doctoral theses)
· Conduct research and disseminate publications on organizational dimensions of occupational health or safety and develop a competitive research program in the field
· Engage in service to the community (activities that contribute to Department, School and University's functioning and outreach)
REQUIREMENTS
· Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in administration, human resources management, public health, industrial relations, psychology, ergonomics or related disciplines, with thesis or recent research on aspects of occupational health or safety*
· At least three years of relevant professional experience, including doctoral research activities.
· Ability to teach occupational health and safety to students at all three academic levels, as evidenced by student evaluations, if applicable.
· Experience and quality of research achievements in the field of occupational health or safety, as demonstrated by scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference communications, and research grants
· Proven experience of the ability and skills to integrate into a multidisciplinary team and work collaboratively
· Proficiency in French, both spoken and written**
* Exceptionally, the application of a candidate who has not yet completed the required degree may be considered. However, this degree must be obtained before tenure is granted, in accordance with the provisions of the UQAM-SPUQ collective agreement.
** A functional command of the French language (ability to teach courses in French) is required prior to taking up the position. An adequate command of French (level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) will be an essential condition for obtaining tenure, in accordance with the provisions of the UQAM-SPUQ collective agreement. French-language classes may be offered.

· Expertise in planning, implementing or evaluating occupational health and safety prevention programs and interventions is considered an asset

ANNUAL SALARY as of April 1, 2025: from $74,351 to $178,818 (according to the UQAM-SPUQ collective agreement)
