  • 1.  Interested in an HR Educators Community?

    Posted 08-05-2024 12:01

    Hello HR colleagues!

I am trying to gauge interest in the creation of an HR Educators Community.

    This idea emerged because:

    1) When I started teaching HR and related courses, I struggled to find resources beyond textbook instructor resources.

    2) I meet many HR educators without HR backgrounds. Several PhD students whose primary research is in OB or ethics, get assigned to teach an introductory HR course without prior experience.

    3) Adjunct or contingent faculty are often hired last minute with minimal time to prepare.

My vision is to develop a one-stop spot for sharing resources. They may include textbook reviews (short and simple), other book reviews, scholarly articles related to teaching HR, activities for the classroom or homework, video clips, and a space for discussion.

Please let me know if you'd be interested in such a group.

I've received a larger number of email replies than I expected--reinforcing the need for such a community. This also made me think AOM is an excellent opportunity to meet anyone who emailed me and anyone else interested in this group. So, I'll share my schedule for the next few days in case you want to say hello.

Friday, 8/9: I'll be around Swissotell Zurch C and Lucerne II for a couple HR teaching sessions, and then the Hyatt for business simulation games.

Saturday, 8/10: I'm not exactly sure, maybe the HR Division's New Faculty Consortium at Swissotel, or various sessions at Hyatt.

Sunday, 8/11: I'll be at the TLC at Marriot.

Monday, 8/12: I'll be at several of the MED sessions at Hyatt.

Tuesday, 8/13: I'll be at Swissotel 09:30 to 11:15, and then Hyatt 11:30-16:30 for MED sessions.

If you see me, say hi!
