Kathryn Aten and I are planning a workshop at this year's Western Academy of Management conference in Santa Fe on the topic of faculty i-deals: idiosyncratic deals that professors have negotiated for themselves. These can be unique arrangements regarding the tasks the professor does, compensation, schedule/flexibility, or even career development.
Have you negotiated an i-deal? If so, we would greatly appreciate hearing about it so that we can share it as an example at the workshop. We will respect your wish for confidentiality if that is your preference and not mention your name or school.
There are so many ways to thrive in this career. We hope that by sharing some of these stories, it might inspire other faculty to have these conversations at their schools.
