    AOM 2026 PDW Invitation
From Tough Love to Teaching Triumph: A No-Gossip Guide to Handling Student Feedback with Grace
    📅 AOM 2026 Annual Meeting
    📍 Marriott, Room 301 (Level 3)
    🕝 Friday, July 31,2026 | 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM

Teaching can be one of the most rewarding parts of academia, but difficult student feedback can also be one of the most emotionally challenging.

This interactive Professional Development Workshop (PDW) brings together scholars to openly discuss the realities of receiving harsh, unfair, funny, and sometimes painful student evaluations; and how educators can transform those experiences into resilience, growth, and stronger teaching practices.

    The session will include:
     Panel discussions with experienced faculty
Roundtable conversations on coping and resilience
     Interactive reframing exercises
     Community-building discussions across career stages
"Professors Read Mean Rates" closing activity

    Topics include:
    • Distinguishing constructive vs. unhelpful feedback
    • Emotional resilience and identity threats in teaching
    • Humor and coping mechanisms
    • Mid-semester feedback strategies
    • Sustainable teaching careers and faculty well-being

Whether you are a doctoral student, early-career faculty member, or senior scholar, this PDW is designed to create a supportive and engaging space for honest conversation about achieving a sustainable career in teaching and professional development.

Please feel free to share this invitation with colleagues, doctoral students, and anyone interested in teaching resilience and faculty well-being.

We hope to see you at AOM 2026!
