We are delighted to invite you to join our AOM 2026 Panel Symposium, "What Does Disability Reveal About the Future of Work?", on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 1:15 to 2:45 PM (Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, Room 414, Level 4).
Intelligent technologies and new ways of working are reshaping how work is accessed, organized, evaluated, and experienced. Artificial intelligence, algorithmic platforms, and remote and hybrid work arrangements may reduce long-standing barriers for people with disabilities, but they may also create new forms of exclusion through algorithmic evaluation, changing skill requirements, and new expectations about availability, productivity, and performance.
This panel brings together scholars working across organizational behavior, inclusion, strategy, and social issues in management to examine how these changes are reshaping work, social relations, and career development for people with disabilities.
Using disability as an analytical lens, the symposium invites participants to reconsider core assumptions about work design, evaluation, and inclusion in technology-embedded workplaces. Rather than presenting finished empirical papers, the session is designed to foster an agenda-setting conversation around unresolved questions, conceptual tensions, and promising directions for future management research.
The symposium will include brief perspectives from the panelists, followed by a moderated discussion and audience Q&A. We hope participants will actively contribute their questions, experiences, and ideas.
Pre-registration is not required. However, completing our brief form will help us estimate attendance, understand which of the four discussion themes are of greatest interest, and gather questions that participants would like the panel to address.
Optional registration and discussion form: What Disability Reveals About the Future of Work
We have also attached the symposium flyer, which provides an overview of the session, including the panel themes, speakers, and discussion topics.
We would be delighted to see you there and warmly welcome you to join the conversation on how AI, disability, and the future of work are reshaping organizations and workplaces.
