Strategic Plan

All Division and Interest Groups (DIGs) in the Academy engage in strategic planning as part of a division review that takes place every three years. The strategic planning process provides an opportunity for DIGs to think strategically about their future state. The result is a brief strategic report highlighting the state of the DIG, strategic goals and activities, and recognition of innovative and best practices.

The HR Division strategic plan initiates from our central purpose:

Division Guideposts – What we are striving for:

  • To provide support for member development through offerings of resources and events that support the evolving needs of our members over the course of their careers.
  • To ensure that the Division’s committees, events, and programs engage and involve our diverse and global membership.

Division Objectives – Ways we provide value to our members:

  • Facilitate excellence in research, teaching, & service
  • Bridge the science-practitioner gap
  • Create a sense of community
  • Honor accomplishment
  • Provide career growth and development

To advance in ways that align with these intentions and member needs, the Division’s strategic plan prioritizes the following strategic goals:

Goal 1: Create effective programming that targets Division members who are experiencing the evolving needs of middle or later career stages.

Goal 2: Broaden access to Division conference and non-conference programming for all members.

Goal 3: For active roles in Division programming and leadership, increase involvement of members who identify as an underrepresented group within the HR Division and the Academy.
