    Please join us for a Launch Pad session titled, "From the Experts: Integrating and Embracing Research Methods Throughout Your Career." The session is hosted by Women in Research Methods (WRM) and will take place on Friday, August 2, from 10-11:30am Eastern Daylight Savings Time. A short panel discussion will precede an open-ended audience Q&A, wherein topics may include practical tips for becoming more involved in research methods, how to publish research methods papers, and how to build a career in the area of research methods.

    Organized by WRM co-founders Tine Köhler (University of Melbourne) and Lisa Schurer Lambert (Oklahoma State University), this session is also supported by CARMA, Organizational Research Methods, and the Research Methods Division of the Academy of Management. Although the session is sponsored by WRM, both men and women are welcome to attend.

    Women in Research Methods

    Women in Research Methods (WRM) is for women academics in management and the organizational sciences who share an interest in research methods. We are faculty members and doctoral students sharing interests, questions, concerns, and advice on writing methods papers, using methods, teaching methods, integrating methods research into an academic career, and other issues related to both qualitative and quantitative methods.     Panelists

    Dr. Tine Köhler is Professor for International Management at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Tine is current co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Organizational Research Methods. She has extensive publishing and reviewing experiences through various editor and editorial board member roles at a range of journals in management and organization studies. She is a fellow of the Consortium of the Advancement of Research Methods and Analysis and a co-founder of the Women in Research Methods network. Her research interests include global teamwork, cross-cultural differences in norms, communication and coordination, and qualitative and quantitative research methods, including grounded theory, case studies, meta-analysis, regression, and research design.

    Dr. Lisa Schurer Lambert is a Professor and William S. Spears Chair of Business at Oklahoma State University. She earned her undergraduate degree and MBA from Northwestern University, and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina. Her scholarship has focused on employment relationships, leadership, and research methods. She is Co-Editor for Organizational Research Methods and has served on Editorial Boards for the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and the Journal of Business and Psychology. Lisa was Division Chair for the Research Methods Division of the Academy of Management and is the Past President of the Southern Management Association. She is a frequent instructor for the Consortium for the Advancement of Research Methods and Analysis (CARMA) and SMA Fellow.           

    Dr. Anna Brown is currently professor of Psychometrics at the School of Psychology at University of Kent, United Kingdom. Her research focuses on scaling comparative judgements, detecting and preventing response biases and faking behaviors, and modelling response processes using Item Response Theory and Structural Equation Modeling frameworks more broadly. Beyond academia, Professor Brown has over 25 years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing psychometric testing solutions in the workplace, health settings, and education. She has developed solutions to complex psychometric challenges, such as scaling of ipsative data and faking distortions, and provides psychometric advice to several organizations in the private and public sectors internationally.

    Dr. Karen Golden-Biddle is Professor of Management and Organizations, emerita at Boston University.  She studies the discovery process and its use in research (e.g., Locke, Feldman & Golden-Biddle, 2022) and in creating change (e.g., Golden-Biddle, K., 2020).  Karen's work has appeared in academic journals, including the Academy of Management JournalOrganizational Research Methods, Organization Science. Her recent book is The Untapped Power of DiscoveryHow to Create Change that Inspires a Better Future (2024).  Karen has received numerous research and teaching awards, including induction as a Fellow of the Academy of Management.

    Dr. Janaki Gooty is a Professor of Management and director of the MBA program at the UNC Charlotte. Her research focuses on inclusion, values/ethics, and the role of emotions in leadership at multiple levels of analyses. Her research has appeared in elite leadership and research methods outlets such as Organizational Research MethodsJournal of Management and Leadership Quarterly. Dr. Gooty currently serves as the associate editor at Leadership Quarterly and has previously served as the associate editor at Journal of Occupational and Organizational psychology and a guest co-editor of two special issues at Leadership Quarterly. She currently sits the editorial boards of several other journals, and was a winner of the Charlotte Business Journal's 2023 Women in Business awards.

    Dr. Elaine Hollensbe (Ph.D., University of Kansas) is a professor in the Management Department at the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, University of Cincinnati. Her research interests include identity, identification, and work-life balance, and she focuses on qualitative research in diverse settings.  Her work appears in top-tier journals and has been recognized with national awards from both the Academy of Management and the Society for Human Resource Management. 

    Dr. Dina Krasikova is an associate professor in the Department of Management at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Her work on leadership, devinat workplace behaviors, employee well-being, and research methods has been published in the Journal of Applied PsychologyJournal of ManagementOrganizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Organizational Research Methods and featured in multiple national and international media outlets, including Forbes, Business News Daily, and Inc. Magazine. Dina served as a Representative-at-Large at the Research Methods Division of the Academy of Management. She is as an Associate Editor at Organizational Research Methods and has served on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management ReviewJournal of Applied Psychology, and Journal of Business and Psychology.

    Dr. Hettie A. Richardson (Ph.D., University of Georgia) is Professor of Management and Leadership and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs in the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University (TCU). Her research methods interests are primarily in the areas of common method variance and survey design. Hettie's work in these areas has been published in journals such as Organizational Research Methods and Journal of Management. She serves on the editorial review boards for Academy of Management ReviewJournal of Applied PsychologyJournal of Management, and Organizational Research Methods Hettie served as Chair of the Research Methods Division of the Academy of Management (2015-2016) and completed a three-year term as one of the division's Representatives-at-Large (2009-2012).

    Dr. Anne D. Smith (PhD, MBA, Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill) is the King & Judy Rogers Professor of Business, Management & Entrepreneurship Department, Haslam College of Business, University of Tennessee. Her research addresses the practice of qualitative research as well as how organizations change and fail. Anne is currently an Associate Editor at Academy of Management Journal (qualitative methods) and has served as on the editorial board of Organization Research Methods (ORM) for over a decade, where she was Associate Editor at ORM for five years. Anne the co-edited Research Methodology in Strategy and Management Emerald book series (2019-2021). Her research has been published in various journals such as Organization Science, Organizational Research Methods, Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, and Journal of Management Inquiry

    Dr. Heather C. Vough is an Associate Professor in Management in Costello College of Business at George Mason University. She received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests include the construction of meaning of work, the role of organizational and professional identity at work, and how individuals make sense of setbacks at work. Her research has been published in top management journals including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, and Organization Science. She has served on the editorial boards of five journals including the Academy of Management Journal and the Academy of Management Review and as an Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Journal.
