AOM HR Division Late-Stage Doctoral Consortium: Call for Applications

Are you a doctoral student nearing the end of your PhD program? If so, we invite you to join us for the AOM HR Division Late-Stage Doctoral Consortium designed to prepare you for the job market, network with peers and prominent scholars in the field, bolster your understanding of being an Assistant Professor, and offer you expert feedback on your dissertation or a promising research paper.

If you are a faculty member, please share this information with late-stage students who may benefit from it.

    Session Schedule

This in-person session is scheduled on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 8AM to 5PM at the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Application is required (see below for details).

    Why Attend?

    • Network with other promising late-stage HR PhD students in the field
    • Receive one-on-one dissertation/research feedback from leading HR scholars
    • Participate in a variety of interactive sessions with emerging and prominent scholars about: (1) preparing for and dominating the job market, (2) thriving as a new Assistant Professor, (3) becoming an independent researcher, (4) enhancing your teaching abilities, and (5) mindfully becoming the academic you want to be

Breakfast and lunch will be provided

    Eligibility Criteria

The Consortium is open to late-stage doctoral students actively working on their dissertations. While it is required that candidates have completed all required coursework/comprehensive exams within their respective PhD programs, it is strongly encouraged - though not required - that candidates have their dissertation/thesis proposal approved by their supervising committee before (or reasonably soon after) the 2026 AOM conference and be a member of the HR Division.

Please note that while we encourage all PhD students that meet the above requirements to apply to the HR Division Late-Stage Doctoral Student Consortium, due to limited space, we may only accept one student per academic program. That said, we may accept additional qualified students from a given program upon the request of the candidate's doctoral program supervisor or faculty advisor. Therefore, feel free to have more than one person per program apply for the consortium. We will not accept applicants who have already completed their PhD or have previously attended the HR Division Late-Stage Doctoral Consortium.

    How to Apply

There is no charge for the Consortium, but you will need to:

    1. Upload a 1- to 2-page CV with contact information, education, research/teaching interests, and research records (publications, conference presentations).

We hope you join us for this educational and fun experience for emerging HR scholars! Please get in touch with any of the organizers of the consortium (see below) if you have any questions.

Apply now to be considered for the consortium!

As an aside, if you are a second- or third-year PhD student, then we invite you to register for the HR Division Mid-Stage Doctoral Consortium. The announcement and registration for that consortium will be sent out via email in a couple weeks.
