A study published recently in Human Resource Management examined the impact of Asynchronous Video Interviews (AVIs) design features on applicant reactions using data from real job applicants' experiences. This complements and adds a different angle to hypothetical studies carried out in the labs. The study also looks at the role played by applicant age and gender, which takes existing theoretical models one step further and provides a more nuanced understanding of applicant reactions. The study expands our limited knowledge about how AVIs are designed and used in practice and calls for integrating applicant characteristics into current theoretical frameworks that focus on applicant reactions to AVIs.
