COVID-19 Challenges to Career Vocational Development of New Career Faculty
The Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management is pleased to invite attendees for the 2nd of a series of Virtual Sessions of the HR New Faculty Consortium! This virtual session will focus on COVID-19 challenges to career vocational development of new career faculty.
Date: May 22, 2021
Time: 9 - 11am, Eastern (US) Time
This session will open with a one-hour Panel discussion of the tenure and promotion process, whether to go back on the market as an experienced assistant professor, departmental politics that might influence such decisions, how to handle taking a less desirable job during COVID-19 and, importantly, how to cope with all of these dynamics.

After the panel discussion, participants will be randomly assigned to breakout rooms for small group discussions and networking.
This professional development workshop is geared towards new career assistant professors (also welcome - those who are imminently graduating) who teach or conduct research in Human Resources Management. Featuring successful senior faculty members with proven records in research and teaching, this virtual PDW aims to provide guidance in navigating an academic career in an ever-changing and challenging environment.
