Welcome to the online community of the Human Resources (HR) Division. As one of the Academy of Management's largest divisions, we are a gathering place for researchers, teachers, and practitioners dedicated to discovering and disseminating state-of-the-art knowledge about human resource management. We are passionate about the work of our members and the important contribution it makes to societies, organizations, and workers around the world. We are living in an age of change and challenge on a global scale. Challenges that place the spotlight on the human side of work. Your innovative scholarship, teaching and practice is critical for elevating and supporting a workforce. We hope the HR Division continues to be a key forum for your development so we might lift you up while you lift up others.
We are constantly working on ways to provide value for our members. A key aim of our Division is to create opportunities to network and make connections. To that end, we were thrilled to be back together in person at Academy of Management 2022 in Seattle, and we look forward to preparing an equally exciting conference for the 2023 annual meeting in Boston. Please consider submitting your research paper or teaching practice to our Division when the submissions system opens in late 2022. We are excited to launch a new HR Division Webinar Series designed to connect you with expertise and experts on various topic related to scholarship and teaching throughout the year. Stay tuned for further details. We must also highlight our new HR Division Mentoring Program for New and Pre-tenure Faculty where we pair junior faculty with mid-career and senior faculty for a year-long mentoring experience. This program began just this past year and quickly became a tremendous success.
We invite you to learn more about us by perusing this site, including our events calendar and discussion board, where you can chat with colleagues from around the globe, or follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn. If you are based outside of North America, we are extremely proud of our Ambassadors Program as a key way through which we engage with and work to meet your needs as an international member. Please reach out to your local Ambassador if you have questions about the Division or ideas about how we can contribute to the development of HR scholarship in your country. Relatedly, we are looking forward to the next Human Resource Division International Conference to be hosted at the Sun City Convention Centre in South Africa in May 2023.
Finally, we enjoyed an amazing boat cruise in Seattle to celebrate the Division’s 50th birthday. We encourage you to continue the celebration by viewing our Past-Division Chair video series charting the evolution of the Division over the past 50 years.
It is my distinct pleasure by part of an excellent leadership team committed to serving the Division. Importantly, we are always looking for you, our members, to get more involved. Please share the work of the Division with your colleagues, help us grow the Division by recruiting new members, and consider volunteering. All it takes is one click!
Let’s continue to work together to enhance our understanding of how organizations can perform more effectively and how employees can have more productive and satisfying work lives through smarter people management practices.
